Eladrin Blacksmithing
An Eladrin longsword is an ingenious piece of ancient blacksmithing, that Elven smiths can only imitate. Ostentatious as it is, with its gold glimmer and highly polished sharp edges, it is not only a piece of beauty but also a feat of engineering.
The handles are not made, but grown to the right size from wood that is specially selected. Once fully grown, the roots are removed and the shape of the handle fits perfectly to the hand of the intended wielder. The tang is made from an especially hard and light steel that can only be found in the Feywild and very few places on the Material Plane. It is said that Eladrin blacksmiths spend up to a year creating a single blade and most of it is spend in creating the right microstructures in the steel by repeating annealing and cold working the blade. Because of all the manual labor and customization that goes in creating a blade, no two Eladrin blades are identical.
An Eladrin Longsword can tunnel energy from the Eladrin warrior wielding it. In the case of a Summer Eladrin blade, the blade feel slightly warm to the touch and can burn the target.
